Broad Street Signs

There are many things to see on Broad Street and I'll show you some neat low resolution photos that I took on my cell-phone camera. At first glance, They make appear poor quality but each one of the photos tells you a story and I am here to narrate that story.

This image is called "Stop". If you look and the crosswalk, the red hand symbolizes to stop walking. If you see the two kids going in a different direction stopped. I thought this was neat because the subjects are abiding the sign without even seeing it.

I call this image "Confused Pedestrian" , this is right off of 13th as I walked home from the night class. I thought this was ironic because there is an opening entitled "pedestrian entrance" balanced with two large Do Not Enter signs on each signs of the entrance.

As a commuter, I pass this building everyday and I am very intrigued with it's presence and I am very curious about it's history. There is a lot of graffiti and the buidling is very run down. I am curious... How can the city let a place called Divine Lorraine become so dilapidated? If you've ever seen this building up close you will know it has intriguing architecture.

What I found cool about this picture is the accidental alignment and the many ways in which this picture may be received. It is rumored that print news is a dying industry. The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News have had many financial woes and new ownership has cut many jobs in order for the company to remain afloat. I find it ironic that we are viewing the new advertisement for the application made available to ipads and similar technologies. It reads "seize the future" and in there press release announcing the new app they followed up with confirming rumors of job cuts. How can you seize the future without a job? To those outside the media industry, They could read this image as knowledge is power.

Here is my last decent view of the city before I merge onto the vine street expressway and take 95 all the way down to my home, the last Pennsylvania exit, exit 1. This intersection is usually very busy and tedious to use but it gives off serene vibes when you are driving home from a night class or hit a pocket of no traffic. What stands out to me in this picture is William Penn. He sits on top of City Hall and in this pic looks like a mini William Penn is standing on the pole of the street light. Everyday it is my final reminder of how great Philadelphia is and the rich history of the area where I live.
